Stage 4 – Study Improvement

It has been discovered that there is a correlation with misunderstandings in life and seeking escape. When someone doesn’t fully understand something then he often pulls away from it and seeks something else to fill that void.

Misunderstandings aren’t just from studying in school, but drug use can often be traced back to a time when someone was having difficulty in school and drugs were offered as a replacement activity after they lost interest. In theory, had they fully understood what they were learning, they might have remained interested in it and not turned to drugs. This is also true for someone who is a recovered addict – if they are able to fully understand situations, whether at work or in other parts of life, their chances of staying clean and sober are much greater.

This is why we have a study improvement course as part of our program. It helps to identify common learning barriers and apply steps to overcome them and thus be able to fully comprehend anything. This especially applies as a life skill after completing a drug rehabilitation program. Many former addicts seek new careers and therefore must learn new things. This course shows them how to be able to learn it and apply it and be successful.
